Recreation

Something fun is always going on in the Glens Falls area. Every Saturday morning there's a terrific Farmer's Market. Every third Thursday of the month, there's an Art Walk. There are free outdoor concerts Tuesday evenings in the Summer at the riverside park in South Glens Falls. Up at Sprinkles in Queensbury there are free jazz concerts every Sunday night in the Summer. There are concerts and sometimes fireworks at Crandall Park. There are car shows downtown, sometimes with fireworks there, too. There are also car shows across the river at the fabulous Mr. Bill's. If you're really into your car, you can go to the drive in theater just north of Glens Falls on 9. For families on a budget, Crandall Library has free movies. Storytime and crafts for toddlers can be found there on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The Hyde Collection is also a wonderful place to visit. They have a program for preschoolers Tuesday afternoons at 3:30pm for just $3. There are productions at the Charles R. Wood theater, shows and hockey games at the Civic Center. If it's time for baseball instead of hockey, you can catch a Golden Eagles ballgame at East Field Stadium. There are wine tastings at the New York Wine Cork and often live music at Davidson Brothers Brewing Company. There's seasonal outdoor seating in several upscale downtown restaurants creating a wonderfully festive atmosphere every night of the week. There's also a Jazz Club and Aimie's Dinner and Movie. Under Aimie's there's the Upstate Model Railroaders headquarters with lots of shows going on, sure to please young and old.

Though many activities abound in Summer and others are year round, the celebration of Winter brings a host of new opportunities for recreation with a groomed network of cross country ski trails lit up at night right in back of the YMCA, and nearby downhill skiing at West Mountain which also has a delicious year round restaurant. There's also an ice rink in back of the Y. Prefer an indoor sport for Winter? Go bowling in South Glens Falls.

If you ever run out of things to do in Glens Falls, go north on 9 and you'll find a drive-in theater and more mini-golf places than you can shake a club at heading towards Lake George, which is just a few minutes away. The Fun Spot has not only mini golf, but roller skating, bounce houses, go-karts, and laser tag. There's also Six Flags as well as a huge brand name outlet center. When famished from shopping, stop at the Olde Post Grille for happy hour and a bite to eat.
